My Melancholy March
There is a stench in the air,
A foul odor of defeat.
My limbs are limp and bare,
As I trudge over the new fallen sleet.
I've lost all that was once mine,
And the shivers tremble down my spine,
The only warmth that I can now seek,
Are the teardrops upon cheek.
This arduous journey I have yet ahead,
Has left all that I love, dead,
But still I must go on,
And fulfill the hope of those who have gone.
I am a woman, alone and afraid,
And I want to cower in the corner of my heart,
But yet, I don't wish I had stayed,
I have faith a better life will soon start.
